Speaker Bio: Michael has over 35 years of experience in IT. He has held positions in operations, application development and database administration and worked on both IBM and Honeywell/GCOS  mainframes. He began working with DB2 in 1987 as a DBA at Bell Canada. He joined BMC Software in 1996 as a DB2 Software Consultant and continues his involvement with  DB2 by providing DB2 technical support to BMC accounts in Canada and the US Midwest. Michael is also past president of IDUG, after having served on the board and numerous North American Conference Planning Committees.

Abstract:  DB2 on z/OS continues to be the work horse DBMS for most business applications in the vast majority of organizations worldwide. SQL workload is growing and getting more complex, yet the resources to manage it effectively are shrinking. DB2 10 promises to deliver “savings out of the box”, but not without effort in some cases.
