    Speaker Bio: Quentin Presley is an DB2 UDB Software Development Manager and technical development lead for the Table Space, Buffer Pool, and Storage Group components. Over the last 8 years Quentin has lead or participated in features including Automatic Storage, Reclaimable Storage, and pureScale. Prior to his work in DB2 Development Quentin worked with DB2 and WebSphere development teams improving the integration of the two products.

    Abstract:  The storage landscape keeps changing drastically and will probably continue to do so in the upcoming years. The advent of Solid State Storage (SSDs) and Flash Memory make disk latencies a thing of the past. Storage virtualization and thin provisioning add new challenges to the DBAs world. Storage replication allows for DR options that previously may not have been considered. In this session, all these storage concepts are examined in context for a DB2 DBA, with concrete suggestions and best practices for both pureScale and non-pureScale environments. This is the type of information that separates the professional DBA from mere mortals!
