Speaker Bio: Dr. Guogen (Gene) Zhang is a Distinguished Engineer in DB2 for z/OS development at IBM Silicon Valley Lab. He is the chief architect and development lead responsible for the delivery of pureXML and SQL query technology in DB2 for z/OS, and has delivered important functionality including pureXML, complex queries and analytics features in DB2 for z/OS. He is a frequent speaker in many conferences, such as IOD and IDUG, and has been deeply involved in providing solutions to customers using pureXML.

Abstract:  DB2 10 for z/OS introduced many exciting new SQL features that will make application development, security and regulatory compliance much easier. This presentation will give an overview and examples of these new features and how they can used to improve your development productivity and experiences. There new features include: SQL PL enhancements, bi-temporal for historical data, fine granularity access control, additional OLAP functions, timestamp with timezone, and extended implicit cast.
