Speaker Bio: Florence Dubois is an IBM Certified Consulting IT Specialist and a member of the DB2 for z/OS Development SWAT team. In this role, she consults for worldwide customers on a variety of technical topics, including implementation and migration, design for high performance and availability, performance and tuning, system health checks, disaster recovery. Florence presents regularly at conferences and has co-authored several IBM Redbooks publications.

Terry Purcell is a Senior Technical Staff Member with the IBM Silicon Valley Lab, where he is lead designer for the DB2 for z/OS Optimizer. Terry has 2 decades of experience with DB2 in Database Administration and application development as a customer, consultant and DB2 developer.

John is an IBM Distinguished Engineer reporting to the Director for z/OS Development at the IBM Silicon Valley Lab. He has extensive experience of DB2 in terms of systems, database and applications design. He specialises in design for high performance and data sharing. He is one of IBM's foremost authorities for implementing high end database / transaction processing applications.

Abstract:  DB2 11 for z/OS is jam packed with query performance improvements: predicate rewrites to improve indexability, hash join optimizations, duplicate removal enhancements, DPSIs, subqueries..... It also delivers major new utilities capabilities in terms of availability, performance and function. This half-say seminar will give an overview of what is new in query performance and the DB2 11 for z/OS Utilities Suite. It will also discuss the extended RBA/LRSN format and its implications for the DBA, and share best practices on migration to the new log record format.
