Abstract:  Over the past years, several security-related enhancements were added to Db2. It is possible to encrypt a database in various ways, to enforce encryption of backup images, and to secure the communication channel. Various privileges can be granted to users, groups and roles. Functions and views help to retrieve security-related information. In our presentation we provide an overview of what is possible now in terms of securing the database environment, ranging from basic authentication to centrally-managed encryption keys.
