We have all heard about Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) hitting the Philippines, and now are seeing the images of the devastation that has taken place. On behalf of IDUG, we are sending our prayers and wishes to the families of the lost and support for the survivors and ask that you join us.
I’m writing this on my way back from the IDUG DB2 Tech Conference in Barcelona where it was great catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. Time spent with other DBAs is different than with anyone one else (you non-DBAs, please keep your comments to yourselves!).

September already! I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer and is ready to get back to work. I can say that the IDUG Conference Planning Committees have been working very hard all summer* and are ready with IDUG DB2 Tech Conferences in Melbourne 11-13 September and Barcelona 13-18 October.
