DATE: 2010-5-12 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
SPEAKERS: Peter Suhner (AXA Technology Services Switzerland AG)

This presentation gives an overview of the project that won the CA-IDUG Award 2009 in Denver. Starting with an overview of typical problems with daily operations in historically grown, distributed DB environments, it provides insight into the solution we have implemented at our site. It shows how we have standardized our DB infrastructure across DB2 and Oracle in a way that allows us to reduce maintenance efforts while providing a well performing and stable environment. Although cost reductions can become significant, the presentation concentrates more on technical implementation and organisational/process oriented aspects.
