DB2 V9.7 introduced a huge number of enhancements to the SQL language, including support for PL SQL. This session will introduce the attendee to the wealth of new features in this release and show how the PL SQL language can be used with DB2 to create triggers, procedures, functions, and anonymous blocks. Even if you don't want to develop PL SQL procedures, this session will highlight some of the other exciting features of DB2 9.7 that can improve performance, ease application development, and eliminate locking.

Learn when to use the new Currently Committed locking model
Know the difference between the new extended data types in DB2
Understand the use of the statement concentrator and under what circumstances to use it
Learn how to use the various tools to explore the capabilities of DB2.
