Optim Performance Manager is a powerful tool for monitoring DB2 performance and for diagnosing issues when they arise. However, there are good, better & best ways of using even the best tools.
What data should be collected during normal operation, and how frequently - and how long should it be kept?
When a problem happens, which view of system health should I start with, and what's the most efficient path to take through the wide variety of data the OPM provides, in order to solve the problem?
In this presentation, we provide an integrated set of best practices for monitoring and diagnosis with OPM, plus the DB2 performance principles which underpin those OPM practices, to provide a staightforward & powerful approach to monitoring.
