SPEAKERS: Allen Niu (Bank of Montreal)

This presentation covers the parallel features in DB2 UDB. A special type of inter-partition parallel (EEE, DPF in V8) configuration, having all nodes defined in one box, will be examined and compared to intra-partition parallel. Performance implication under both configurations will be discussed. The discussion becomes more meaningful considering the growing power of hardware and the trend of server consolidation.

EXP. LEVEL: Beginner,Intermediate,Advanced

OBJECTIVES:

Overview of parallel technique in database

DB2 UDB intra and inter partition parallelism

A case of using inter-partition (EEE, DPF)

Is intra-partition an option in this case ?

Performance implication and config tips for both
