Fact #1: SQL can make DB2 fly or crawl. Fact #2: Large performance gains are achieved by tuning SQL. In part 1, we look at how you can make SQL fly. We take an in-depth look at predicate processing, how joins can be made more efficient and also how stage 1 can improve and stage 2 predicates can impact performance. Lastly we discuss DB2 EXPLAIN and how to find SQL problems that cannot be spotted in the PLAN_TABLE.
