This presentation covers shells I use to monitor our production Informix engines. Two are enhancements to the "base" alarm and evidence shells provided by IBM/Informix. I will show my changes to these two scripts in detail, and how these changes prevent potential problems, such as multiple alarms flooding the system, and also to back up logical logs. Finally, the "lookatspace" shell I will show uses sysmaster calls to give the DBA warning if any dbspace is low. These work for the 7.x and 9.x engines.
