Database performance may have a major impact on the success or failure of a WebSphere project. DB2 UDB expertise is key to many WebSphere projects. DB2 UDB databases are a critical component of WebSphere applications implementations. The challenge is that many WebSphere professionals may not have a complete understanding of DB2 UDB function and performance dynamics. Also, DB2 UDB professionals are still learning about WebSphere, and the body of knowledge of ‘best practices’ is still being formed. This presentation will focus first on key points about how DB2 UDB operates that database professionals need to explain to their WebSphere colleagues. The presentation will then cover key points that DB2 UDB professionals need to understand about WebSphere. Sources of reference material will be mentioned throughout. The presentation will finish with examples of important performance considerations. The goal is to highlight critical success factors in a typical WebSphere project.
