Topic: Cross Platform DB2 for z/OS & LUW
DATE: 2009-5-12 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
SPEAKERS: Jorg Lueke (BCBSMN)
The goal of the presentation is to present the primary Rails 2.1 topics that might be of interest to a DBA or Application developer. The slides will contain much of the background information and references while the presentation itself will use a hands-on approach demonstrating the concepts by building an interactive project. The demonstration project will build a tool to graphically display DB2 performance data. The performance application will feature a login screen, a report selection menu, graphical views, and the ability to define new reports all in the space of one session.Rails 2 was released in December 2007. This presentation will provide an updated understanding of Ruby on Rails with DB2 on the current version (Rails 2.1). The topics included have been tested with DB2 for z/OS V8, DB2 for z/OS V9, and DB2 UDB for LUW V 9.5. The rails install has been tested on Windows, Ubuntu Linux 7.10 and 8.04 as well as SUSE Linux 10 on zseries.
