DB2 9 introduced new options for the RESTORE utility to recover a database using one or more table space backups. This functionality provides the ability to build a new database using a subset of the table spaces. This can greatly reduce the disk space required to make data copies for selected testing or unique recovery situation, including dropped tables, dropped table spaces or point in time recovery to correct application errors. Other DB2 9 Recovery Enhancements will also be addressed.
