SPEAKERS: James Surber (CSC)

There is much more to a 24x7 system then installing the software and hardware. How do you determine if it is right for you database. How do you justify it to management? Topics covered will include the money factor in a high availability system. The types of 24x7 and how valuable is the loss of data and how much data can you afford to lose, the design of the hardware (servers and disks), installation and some very important parameters and registry settings that will keep the database and software error free and running. After a database is setup we will cover the maintenance and the care and work in maintaining a 24x7 system. Performance will be covered as a factor in 24x7. If it is not fast it is not there. Disaster Recovery is very important in high availability. If you cannot do it fast you lose customers and money.
