DB2 pureScale is an active/active scale-out solution for distributed DB2 server that comes from the DB2 for z/OS SYSPLEX mainframe technology. The Oracle RAC solution has been in the market for quite some time, and in conjunction with a rich marketing program and lack of alternative solution, has managed to evade a deep technical look at how it works from a scalability and availability perspective. This presentation will give users a technical comparison between DB2 pureScale and Oracle RAC and separate the fact, fiction, and marketing to allow users to make informed decisions of their IT strategy.
