This presentation will cover complex, tough SQL tuning problems and solutions based on actual experience. Problems presented will incude correlated subquery problems, filtering problems, malformed predicates, inadequate runstats, optimizer setting problems, inefficient indexes, list prefetch problems, and character and date function problems. Solutions will be presented for each problem presented. Solutions will include SQL rewrites and generated column and MDC solutions.

Understand how to re-write correlated subqueries for better, often times dramatic perfomance improvements

Understand how DB2 functions can impact performance

Understand difference between good and bad index scans

Learn how to identify opportunies to use generated columns
