There are many simple operating system and database techniques which we overlook daily. Pick up a handful of them in this eclectic presentation and make your life so much better... ok maybe not better, less worst.We will run through great every day tricks that WILL increase your efficiency. We will look at a wide range of invaluable tricks, scripts, syntax, sql which accelerate, facilitate, and automate your day to day DBA tasks. Have you used DOS key? What about UNIX alias command to hide syntax? Have you picked up SQL/PL yet? Do you exploit SQL or DB2 commands to build other forms of syntax? Through a series of real world examples we will unveil low hanging technical fruit that sits ready for the taking. You will pick up something new and simple to integrate to your daily tasks, if I run long you may even lose weight.

OBJECTIVES:

Present a variety of Windows features and tools which are invaluable to any DBAís day to day work.

Shed new light on the use of SQL to cleanly automate the generation of DB2 commands, SQL and other forms of syntax.

Take away your fear of SQL/PL. It is now so easy, and the syntax is so straight forward you have no excuse not to include this powerful feature into your skill set.

Scripting and other simple forms of operating system syntax will close the loop on almost everything you will ever need to accomplish.
