Medicare Australia has recently geocoded and stored the addresses of its healthcare providers and consumers in a central corporate repository. Collocating geospatial and business data in a data warehouse allows analysis for business intelligence, management information and fraud detection. A key challenge is to store and manage geospatial data so that analysis of large holdings can be performed efficiently and results can be delivered in a timely, effective manner to visualisation layer applications and data miners.
