Ensuring your database system always meets its business goals and avoids unexpected resource overload can be challenging when supporting a diverse set of workloads in your environment. DB2 Workload Management offers a powerful set of capabilities to allow you to manage and optimize your system but it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start. This session will bring you up to speed on the latest capabilities for Workload Management in DB2 and through a series of practical examples will show you best practices for configuring and deploying them in your own environment.

You will learn how to optimize your system in order to avoid overload and ensure system stability. You will learn different methods to detect and block rogues queries. Finally we will introduce you to the new new wlm dispatcher capabilities in DB2 10, and show you how to use them both to provision your CPU resources for workload prioritization, and to sandbox specific workloads within the framework of the current best practices.
