D06 - Data Purge Algorithm - Efficiently Purge Terabytes of Data from the Database

Topic: DB2 for LUW

Subtopic: 2015

Keeping the database tables small and efficient improves system performance. While traditional data purge techniques like cascaded delete and PL/SQL stored procedure to purge data work well for smaller databases, they fail as the database size scales up into a few terabytes. This presentation discusses an algorithm with implementation and monitoring details to efficiently delete terabytes of data from a DB2 LUW database.
