Come see how AT&T uses its tools of choice to monitor more than 225 subsystems. This presentation will not only focus on how we use Query Monitor to find that single SQL statement consuming all our CPU, well also show you how we solve some of the more common problems/questions, like who stopped our database or what value was used in your host variable? How we integrate SQL Performance Analyzer into our environments, and how Omegamon XE for DB2 PE is used to look at the entire ball-field.

OBJECTIVES:

Why does AT&T monitor it's subsystems? We'll explore why a monitor is needed and review the various monitors available to us. What's different about a query monitor, versus a subsystem monitor.

We'll look closer at how Query Monitor(QM) is being used at AT&T, why its used by everyone; programmers/application DBAs, to DB2 Systems Support. We'll explore many built-in features; looking at the SQL/CA, DB2 Commands & displaying host variables

AT&T uses SQL/PA to perform its Explains...well show you why. How this tool interfaces with Query Monitor and Omegamon for DB2.
