You can always read about the features/enhancements of a new release, such as DB2 9 for z/OS, in the manuals, in redbooks or by attending highlight presentations. But what you generally miss from these sources is the answer to your question, "Why do I care about these enhancements?". And if there is one key DB2 focal area that needs extra explanation, it is the optimizer. This presentation will deep dive into some of the key SQL performance enhancements delivered recently in DB2 for z/OS.
