Industry statistics show that early detection of defects or performance issues through "review process" has a significantly lower cost than ‘issues' found when the software is in production. One way in which you can help reduce total cost of ownership and avoid "preventable" issues is by being proactive in developing DB2 code as per set shop standards and actively lookout for non-standard code/SQL and potential performance problems and fix it before software is installed in production.

EXP. LEVEL: Beginner,Intermediate

OBJECTIVES:

Objective of this presentation is to outline a successful methodology and strategy for achieving superior database business continuity, supported by software that is written by developers who apply SQL standards.

Gain knowledge to standardize DB2 development, and improve application maintainability.

Understand the fact that code/SQL is where the majority of tuning opportunities exist for a given DB2 system.

Learn that implementing SQL review process provides on-going training for all developer, as standards reflect current surrounding efficient SQL utilization, given the DB2 version currently deployed.

Ever changing standards exploit improvements and efficiencies to techniques in new versions of DB2, and apply it to your code stack.
