Topic: DB2 for z/OS

Subtopic: 2007

DATE: 2007-5-8 (01:40 PM - 02:40 PM)
SPEAKERS: Ed Woods (IBM)

Dynamic SQL poses unique and increasingly more important DB2 performance management challenges. Application components such as WebSphere may make extensive use of dynamic SQL. Dynamic SQL offers important application capabilities, but these capabilities may come at a cost. These costs potentially impact the applications, and the DB2 subsystem as a whole. This presentation will cover the dynamics of how dynamic SQL functions. This presentation will discuss how to measure and understand the impact of dynamic SQL on the DB2 subsystem. Topics will include available trace information. The goal is to develop some recommendations on how to best monitor, assess, quantify, and manage dynamic SQL.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate
