Modernizing Your DB2 for z/OS Security Set-Up (B14)

Topic: DB2 for z/OS

Subtopic: 2011

The security-related enhancements delivered with DB2 for z/OS Versions 9 and 10 are more significant than anything we’ve seen since the introduction of secondary authorization IDs some twenty years ago. Roles, trusted contexts, DBADMs without data access privileges, the security administrator authority, table-based row- and column-access controls - the tools are there to lock down and otherwise manage access to mainframe DB2 data like never before. In this session, I’ll provide an overview of where we’ve been with respect to DB2 security management, an explanation of the major security-related features and functions of DB2 9 and DB2 10, and scenarios for putting these features and functions to work.
