SPEAKERS: Frederic Bothy (Toyota Motor Europe)

The goal of this presentation is to share our user experience with ⠜IBM Infosphere Q-Replication & Event Publisherâ ?.Indeed, IBM manuals contain all the info you need to build a brand new online replication process with Q-rep or an CSV or XML output file with Event Publisher. But it does not give a lot of information (if any) on how to:- migrate from an existing replication process.- setup your DB2, Websphere MQ, Q-REP and monitoring tools.- handle data model changes on the source & target databases.- fix the replication issues you will encounter. - replicate data both synchronously and asynchronously, for different applications, on different lpar's.By attending this session, you will have a clear idea on how to plan, build, monitor & debug an online replication process.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate

OBJECTIVES:

DB2, Websphere MQ series, Q-Replication & Event Publisher setup for high availability.Activate subsystems monitoring, alerting & debugging. Share encountered problems at setup and applied countermeasures.

Implementation of ⠜IBM Infosphere Event Publisherâ ?.Creation of CSV or XML output files using Event Publisher and REXX/C application programs. Best practices.

Creation & monitoring of Q-rep & Event Publisher applications through the DB2 Replication Center, the IBM Infosphere Replication Dashboard and an in-house ISPF application.

Implementation of an online replication with low latency & high throughput on the same or on separate LPAR's. Impact of DB2 data model changes on the replication process.

Usage of Q-REP for batch replication.Replacement of Log scan & apply utilities. Replication to ⠜Consistent Change-Data ⠜CCDâ ? tables (with before & after images). Impact of the migration on the existing data warehouse applications.
