SPEAKERS: Ville Hurmalainen (Pohjola-Group)

Demand for 24x7 is absolute, so we don't have batch window anymore. Every cpu-second costs money. But need for good batch jobs are still there. We must reinvent good, old process-oriented programming. Pohjola's new car-insurance system's batch processes will be implemented with some new and some old ideas.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate

OBJECTIVES:

No more batch window, but batch is still needeed.

Online & batch MUST tolerate each other.

Normal DB2 based locking cannot be used.

Geting data out of database must be efficient.

Updating database is a challenge, but can be done.
