For years, you have been facing the problem of managing different versions of application data. With new regulatory and compliance laws requiring historical data to be maintained over years, the problem is becoming more complex managing different versions of data. This session will give a short overview on the new capability in DB2 10 for z/OS to control the management of application data based upon time via table definitions and new SQL clauses. State Farm will walk through use cases that have a need to track versions of data over time, compare solutions for those use cases developed with and without DB2 10 functionality, and share early experiences and usage considerations for the new functionality.

Overview of database concepts for managing history in the database

Examples of where storing history makes sense in the database.
