Subtopic: DB2 for z/OS
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has become the norm in our shop. XML is being exchanged, extracted, transformed, loaded, and shredded in many of our applications. Much of this activity has bypassed the mainframe altogether, but with DB2 PureXML, our mainframe applications can now participate on an equal footing. In 2011, we implemented a database using PureXML. Not being familiar with the objects, the query language, nor the utilities, I determined to test it out thoroughly. This presentation combines what I learned from tinkering with what we learned as we implemented this new system. I will discuss how the objects are created, what to expect when creating and executing 11 of the most common utilities, what do the new XQuery clauses do in the SQL, and more.
