In the past decade, GPS enabled devices and mobile applications had seen a tremendous boom. In fact, most Fortune 500 companies have some sort of mobile strategies in the form of mobile websites and native mobile applications for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. In this session, we will examine how 1 of our DB2 for z/OS customer who had successfully designed, implemented, and deployed a GPS enabled application for their mobile customers. Due to the OLTP nature of the these applications, you will learn several new techniques on how to achieve efficient proximity searches based on your current mobile location.
