Subtopic: DB2 for z/OS
We have a telematics application at John Deere that has recently experienced some challenges as it grows up into a BigData mission critical system. This past year we embarked on a redesign of the application and database in order to provide greater availability and scalability. This presentation will cover the challenges of the application and a variety of DB2 features that we used or chose not to use in enhancing the application and database. The presentation will cover a number of things including page sizes, partitioning, UTS and PBG or PBR and how we got ‘caught’ with append. I will also talk about our usage of DB2 data sharing in order to provide for a cascading failover implementation.
