Managing hierarchies in an efficient way can be a daunting task when it comes to relational databases. In this session we will discuss four
common implementations of hierarchies in SQL; Common Table
Expressions, Materialized Path, Nested Sets and Transitive Closure
tables. We will discuss benefits and drawbacks with each model, as well as algorithms for common operations and their space and time complexity.
