B11 - SYSLGRNX from darkness to light

Topic: 2014 EMEA

Subtopic: DB2 for z/OS

The purpose of SYSLGRNX is to identify, on the DB2 log, where the updates are for each object. The SYSLGRNX table stores records that serve to improve recovery performance by limiting the scan of the log to changes that must be applied. Since V10, SYSLGRNX is defined in the DB2catalog. The table can be used in queries but as the format is internal ,it isn’t easy to take advantage of this new feature. To resolve a case we decide to use the data stored in SYSLGRNX , we need to manipulate the data to reach a readable and useable format .
It is important to identify the optimal predicate to write efficient query joining SYSLGRNX and CATALOG tables (as it is prohibited to create indexes on DSNDB01 objects). So if you want to learn more about the advantages of this new feature , take a look at thispresentation.
