Topic: 2009 EU

Subtopic: DB2 for z/OS

DATE: 2009-10-5 (16:00 - 17:00)
SPEAKERS: Patrizia Rizzi (I.N.P.S.), Fabiana Benedetti (IBM)

Having an efficient subsystem is always the primary goal of every computer science centre. The objective of this presentation, is to analyse the current situation of the DB2 subsystem and to highlight the critical points. We will show how we are able to do this and the solutions we have found to make the subsystem more efficient. The presentation will describe the health check study regarding the DB2 subsystem that we did in INPS. To evaluate the subsystem efficiency, we first analysed the address space consumption and then the applications consumption .For every connection we did a trend analysis, based on the MIPS consumption, the number of transactions and the activities .Finally we analysed the locking transaction indicator and the suspension time.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate

OBJECTIVES:

Consumption in MIPS

Subsystem Efficiency

Trend for Connections

Transaction Locking

Suspension Time
