Built-In-Functions (BIFs) help customers port applications, improve productivity, performance, and ease of use, and accomplish things that required code previously - either in the form of an application or User Defined Function (UDF).DB2 9 introduced over 40 new BIFs. Find out why were they added and what problems they solve, and how your shop can take advantage of the capabilities they provide.SQL Scalar functions will also be discussed. Although SQL Scalar functions have been around for some time, many customers are not aware of the power of SQL Scalar functions and how they can be used to extend the capabilities of DB2.The goal of this session is to bring you up to speed on the new DB2 9 functions so that you can start thinking about how your shop can exploit this capability. Improve your performance and reduce costs by replacing the application code or UDF that you used previously.
