Cloud Computing is arguably the hottest technology today. It has the potential to fundamentally redefine the way IT business is conducted by companies both large and small. Yet, there is much confusion about Cloud Computing and especially its impact on database workloads. There is also a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt with many IT professionals fearing that their jobs will move in to the cloud together with their IT systems.This presentation will deal with the implications of Cloud Computing on DB2. It will discuss DB2 offerings and functions that are designed for the Cloud. It will deal wiht the subjects of design, test, deployment and ongoing management of DB2 systems in this environment. Most important, it will clarify the role of the DBA and the great potential that Cloud Computing brings to this profession.
