It is becoming more and more common to see applications with embedded DB2 LUW arriving to a company where there is no LUW DBA and, most probably, the responsibility of managing and administering availability and performance of such databases is given to the z/OS DBAs.This presentation is about lived experiences of such mind and knowledge migration challenges and aims to provide the basis to become a LUW DBA having experience as a DB2 z/OS administrator.

To describe the similarities and differences between the databases from a z/OS point of view.

To provide tips and hints for administration, availability and performance from a z/OS DBA point of view.

To provide a roadmap for achieving quickly DBA capabilities and the next steps to follow for becoming a serious LUW DBA.

To describe the critical points to watch and prepare for intervention.

To provide tools for reporting and checking and places to get more information and support.
