Topic: 2008 EU

Subtopic: DB2 for z/OS

DATE: 2008-10-14 (09:00 - 10:00)
SPEAKERS: Peter Plevka (BMC Software)

This session will help you to understand how to decrease IO through better usage of bufferpools. I will take a close look at the DB2 bufferpool architecture, and how to make it work for your database and application design. You will understand performance attributes, we will discuss the concept of the application hit ratio, and show an example on how to measure improvements after changes to the bufferpool configuration.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate

OBJECTIVES:

Understand Bufferpool architecture in DB2

Why it is still important to tune buffers

What are performance attributes ?

How to reconfigure buffers ?

How to measure performance improvements after reconfiguration of buffers ?
