With recent enhancements to the DB2 for z/OS product, IBM has delivered some extremely useful and advanced features for query performance analysis. These features come in the form of GUI based tools that run on a PC, and connect remotely to a DB2 for z/OS data server. What happens, however, when shop standards don't allow remote access to the data server? What happens when PC software standardization does not allow for these tools to be installed on a PC? Are those users out of luck? No. This presentation will intoduce users some of the EXPLAIN tables used by these tools for advanced query analysis, and demonstrate how SQL queries can be used to gather and analyze the advanced information without having to use the tools. All you need is SPUFI and some cool queries!
