SPEAKERS: Carolyn Sanders (EDS)

The TSM Database holds information about virtually everything concerning the TSM Server and Clients. You can use the TSM Administrative Client to look at specific information or the TSM SQL interface to query the database directly using standard SQL queries. Using these two techniques your capabilities include:- verifying the parameters setting for your TSM node and TSM management class. - querying your TSM session and check the status and see if it is receiving data or is in a media wait state. - checking the availability of scratch tapes and tapes drives. - reviewing the TSM activity log and see actual TSM errors associated with the API return code sent to DB2. - querying the TSM backup table and verify that those TSM exclude filters are working the way you wanted them to. - gathering metrics on when your API backups are running if you need to do load leveling.
