SPEAKERS: Michael Shields (John Deere PDC)
At John Deere, we took our business critical application for ordering parts which was running Cobol-IMS and rewrote it in Java-DB2. In order to gain performance/concurrency and shave cost we applied several changes to the DataModel and persistence layer of the application. The most significant change was the replacement of JDBC calls with SQLJ. This presentation will cover the necessary steps by the Java design and development roles as well as the DB2 DBA in order to successfully deploy business critical applications.
