This presentation will look at the V8 multirow functionality from different angles. It will show how to code/use it from both the Z/os side from Cobol as well from the distributed side. There will be included measurements of the performance benefits achieved and there will be a walk-through of locking and accounting impacts.

OBJECTIVES:

Understand the basic coding impacts of multirow SQL.

Understand the limitation of multirow SQL.

Be able to understand where and if multirow SQL can be used at the distributed side.

Be able to deal with multirow SQL in tracing, accounting and locking.

Understand where and if it will be beneficially to recode existing applications to use multirow SQL.
