Tuning SQL that performs poorly is often a reactionary task for DBAs and developers. Utilizing a "beginning to end" process for tuning SQL can shift this process to become more proactive or expedite the process when it is reactive and you are under the gun to fix a performance problem. This presentation will help organize your tuning approach and will show detailed information for many of the built-in features of UDB LUW that provide great assistance to the tuning process.

Identify and explain methods and tools to identify performance tuning opportunities

Identify and explain methods for analyzing poorly performing SQL to help in developing potential solutions

Consider various methods for resolving SQL problems. Identify strengths and weaknesses ov various approaches and determine priority.

Identify steps needed to deploy solution and to ensure knowledge gained during resolution process is retained.

Learn indepth knowledge of how to utilize snapshots and table functions to harvest critical information needed to help resolve performance problems.
