DATE: 2007-5-9 (09:50 AM - 10:50 AM)
SPEAKERS: Adam Storm (IBM Toronto Lab)

When tuning database memory parameters online, care is required to avoid undesirable behaviour. This talk discusses DB2ís memory model and the internal mechanisms involved in online memory tuning. We then illustrate how reckless online tuning can cause plan changes, catalog table contention and reduced throughput. Finally we outline some techniques which will avoid unexpected and undesired behaviour when tuning online.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate,Advanced
