Jordan Bruce details Major Canadian Retail Drugstores experience migrating Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) 10 from SCO to Open Source Linux for our store server sites. He will discuss why the migration went so smoothly and cover how performance gains were achieved (in some cases benchmarks measured as high as 80%). He will detail the new features that were utilized with IDS 10 over IDS 9.30, including how performance enhancements were put in place, how the simplified administrative features aided in this particular environment and his observed benefits of the increased stability, security and higher availability features. He will be providing both an overview of the experience as well as detailed technical constructs that you can put into practice with your day-to-day Informix DBA activities.
