DB2 is built upon the database foundations of security, performance, concurrency, integrity and recoverability. Over the years new features, functions and some interesting combinations have created scenarios that can undermine these foundation stones. We will look at a number of database exposures including; application commit strategies, misuse of triggers, the power and danger of ROTATE and some unexpected impacts of high extents. You’ll hear tales of woe and intrigue that will reveal potential trouble spots in your database based on research and close encounters of the uncomfortable kind. Inquiring DBAs will want to hear about some of the new "killer features" in DB2 V8. Based on the experiences of veteran DBAs and input from leading DB2 experts, you’ll learn some of the critical exposures in DB2 that can threaten your database and your career.
