Topic: 2006 EU

Subtopic: Informix

DATE: 2006-10-4 (11:00 - 12:00)
SPEAKERS: John Pickford (IBM)

How IDS has been extended to efficiently manage time series data. How these extended capabilities are used in applications. Earlier sessions have described how new data types can be added to IDS and packaged as DataBlades. This session describes how two of the pre-built DataBlades, TimeSeries and RealTime Loader can help any application that stores time series data, it will be smaller, faster, and more easily implemented. These DataBlades are useful as they are and are good examples of what DataBlades in general can do to improve databases.

EXP. LEVEL: Intermediate

OBJECTIVES:

Describe two complex DataBlades

Why time series data can be a problem

How the TimeSeries Datablade solves these problems

Why streaming data can be a problem

How the RealTime Loader solves these problems
