DB2 federation technology allows applications to access data in both DB2 family and non DB2 family relational databases. Federated two phase commit support provides two phase commit functionality for federated transactions accessing one or more federated data sources. It uses the industry standard X/Open XA protocol to coordinate DUOW transaction processing among federated data sources.
